Very fine, high end silk was used to create this stunning, single shoulder, gorgeous dress and jacket from the late 1950s. The silk has an exotic sari feel to it and I love the gold thread used to create the beautiful curved design that runs over its entirety. During this time period India held a great fascination as it opened to the Western world. Pieces made specifically for the Western market began to be bright back by tourists and these were made of beautiful, traditional silks crafted into more Western cuts like this dress and jacket. The blue is a deep sea blue turquoise and curved gold medallions are woven directly into the silk. The neckline and hem of the dress are bordered in a band of gold with a more dense pattern and this same detailing runs down the front of the jacket and rings the cuffs. I love how the hugs the body and has that side slit. Contrasting this sexy cut is a more formal box cut jacket. It is beautifully made and very light. Very sexy. Excellent condition
Fully lined in a gold toned tissue silk. The dress closes with side painted metal zipper and the jacket has no closures. Hand finished and beautifully made
